Calcium Carbonates Applications

It is mainly used as a filler material in PVC industry, paint and plastic sectors after being processed in various forms. In the same time it’s used as a filler material in different industries such as paper, rubber, medicine, packaging, food, glass, cable, building and construction, textile, ink industries.

Micronized calcium carbonate powder is the main filler, It ensures better lustering low oil absorption, easy spreading, It lasts longer, and resists to the worst weather conditions in the paint industry. Fineness and particle dimension distribution affect covering characteristic of coating. Micronized calcium carbonate powder gives paint characteristics to weather conditions, low wearing, low electrolyte content, PH  balancing effect, improved anti corrosion and rheological characteristics.

Primers and putties: As natural micronized calcium carbonate powder has alkali PH value and low oil absorbance characteristics, it creates the ideal condition for primers. Micronized calcium carbonate powder filling material gives shine, viscosity and resistance effects.

Micronized calcium carbonate powder and coated calcium carbonate powder is used in Rigid PVC pipes as reinforcing agent and filler. The use of calcite powder is beneficial as it reduces costs. It further improves impact strength and U-PVC facilitates smooth extrusion.

PVC, The most widely used versatile polymer is used for a huge range of pipe applications, include a large sewer piping or residential waste vent piping or it can be smaller water piping. The large variety of PVC piping applications can have enhanced performance properties with calcium carbonate powders. The surface treated carbonates offer good dispersion and ensure excellent integration in the polymer matrix. This improves impact resistance and base properties of polyvinyl chloride (U-PVC) drain pipe.

Raw material source we use has the same chemical formulation of calcite that gives highest whiteness feature in plastic and master batch industry, and it is the most preferred materials. Calcium carbonate characteristics for the plastic and master batch sector, its low DOP absorption and the fact that it does not use expensive pigments make calcium more profitable.

It has a flame retardant characteristic, enhances impact feature, it arranges viscosity in polymers PVC and also it does not contain heavy metals and gives longer usage time characteristics too. It also provides very fine granule distribution and it does not penetrate in other chemicals. It is odorless and tasteless because it does not include toxics .In providing heat insulation; it gives better results for plastic.

Natural calcium carbonate is an inorganic mineral and when it meets organic materials like polymers, since both have different surface tensions, Calcium carbonate reveals surface modification in order to give better physical values. It is produced by altering natural segments under a certain temperature and applying pressure with reactive monomer catalysts.

Thermoplastics , elastomers and PVC compound it ensures better results such as purity, structure, fatty acids, lower cost, better surface.

Since calcium carbonate provides higher dispersion and lower abrasiveness, recently it has reduced the use of kaolin, cellulose and optical whiteners. Compared to other products, calcium carbonate ensures that expenses are much less. While maintaining the mechanical properties, it provides more filler materials to be used. On used paper, it ensure more whiteness and reduces environmental pollution, and high acids can be avoided by using calcium carbonate .In the last decade, calcium carbonate replaced kaolin in paper sector. It is the most important filler and coating pigment in paper production. It ensures: Fine material and covering, better glossy, blandness, optical qualities.

By choosing the right calcium carbonate grade, customers can achieve cost effective solutions that allow high filler loading with no impairment processing and the final properties. The main benefits in production include : Better mixing effect, easier mold release, increased processing

Flexible PVC product can generally handle very high loading of calcium carbonate. In addition to cost saving, several properties can be enhanced depending on the applications and the selection of calcium carbonate: Better electrical properties(cable), higher gloss, lower plasticizer and stabilizer absorption, higher HDT, controlled rheology (automotive underbody sealing).

Calcium carbonate is used in automotive and textile industry: Automotive floor carpet production, fill in artificial leather, stain-resistant fabric (coated calcite), home carpet infill under the latex, polyester fleece.

Calcite is found in many areas of our lives and used in many different industries: Welding electrode, tooth paste, cosmetics/cleaning, paper, soap, ink, latex, carpet, adhesive and so on.
